He had a speech prepared. His lips trembled as he read it; a tear running down his cheek.

The media had made his errors seem a lot bigger than the reality. The influenced public was losing faith. Thanks to the media, he was ousted. By his own party.

Kevin Rudd was no longer Prime Minister.

Must check out Bloggers Premier League. Go Psych Babbler! 🙂

The media is something that is all-pervasive. I bet it influences us psychologically in ways we are not even aware of. I have noticed, *gulp* as I get older, that younger people are less responsive socially. Not anti-social, but they are better at blocking things out and I think it comes from dealing with an over-saturation of media in our society.

Another interesting point in your article is the power of media to almost ‘create reality’, regardless of what is objectively real. Hmm, ok, enough outta me!

It’s a fun contest…although sometimes a lot of work when you are really busy… =P I think the media manages to brainwash a lot of people…most of us probably don’t think critically and don’t seem to realise that the media is sensationalising information…because truly, that’s all they do. Sensationalise. Gone are the days when they reported the facts. If you listen to the words they use, you can tell how they are influencing people. Everything is a ‘disaster’ or a ‘catastrophe’ or ‘terrible’ and ‘awful’. And then they wonder why so many people have mental health issues…I could go on and on on my media-bashing! Give me ABC and SBS any day…

Thanks Smitha…definitely do think that Rudd was given the boot because of how the media portrayed him. He was actually a pretty decent PM barring a couple of debacles. Nowhere near how bad Bush was for the US. And yet, the media portrayed it as heinous crimes and seemed to conveniently forget all the good he did resulting in his decline in the ‘public opinion polls’.
