Transition

Source
As we make this transition
From coupledom to singlehood
All I can bring to mind
Are the bad times and not the good
What is it that happened to us?
How did we grow apart?
Or was it never meant to be
Right from the very start?
We made an effort
To make the relationship work
But stressful situations
In us brought out the very worst
The problems seemed to exist
Much longer than I’d like
But I think we kept persisting
And living in denial
Now we take life’s journey
On completely separate paths
Scary as it may seem
Trying to not hold on to the past
I wish you well on your ride
And hope you move ahead
And if you ever think of me
Please don’t hold contempt
I do think this is for the best
Despite being terrified
That now I continue my life
Without you by my side
***This has been written for One Single Impression Prompt 213***
Until next time,

Cheers!!!

    Bitter-sweet & beautiful.

The prompt series seems interesting.. Hopping over & watching out for more.

Thanks CG…I think it’s my way of coping currently. The prompts are good…I’ve done a few of theirs.

Very graceful acceptance of life as it is and graceful goodbye too.
    I specially liked
“And if you ever think of me
    Please don’t hold contempt
I do think this is for the best”

    It touched.

Thanks Harshad…I don’t know if I’ve completely accepted it as yet but it’s a way of trying to move on…glad it had an impact though.

So you know what I mean Michael…it’s hard and scary but sometimes, I guess you just realise that’s a path you’ve got to take.

Well, you tried, at least. Life goes on for you, too. I believe remembering the worst moments is better from a therapeutic point of view, as that gives courage to move forward and look for new hope.
    Best, M.
