Our Minds

Our minds
Stuck in the past
Going through regrets
Of things lost
Failed relationships
Burnt bridges
Opportunities lost
And near misses

Our minds
Worrying about the future
Of the unpredictable
We always fear
Future relationships
Money and house
Health of loved ones
Own competence we doubt

Our minds
Stuck in the past
Worried about the future
Absent from the present
In which we really live

So true ! Human minds always live in the past or the present…
not realizing, the beauty of the present 🙂

Thanks We Cognize…and yes, figured you meant future. 🙂 We are constantly worrying about the future or thinking of how things could have been we do forget to enjoy what the present has to offer. More often than not, it’s part of mental health problems!

Thank you Harshad…it is how the mind works and sadly, it is also how we develop problems like depression and anxiety…

Sometimes I am not sure if we have minds or minds have us.

Welcome here J Cosmo Newbery! I agree…sometimes we let our minds control us. Actually scratch that. Most times we let our minds control us!

and with a deep breath, or just noticing our breath or the words of a poet, we return… to just this. Beautiful poem.

True! The only thing constant is worry – about the past, about the future. Ensuring we have enough to think about to avoid us from living in the present.
    A beautiful piece !

I’m also entangled quite a lot in this web of time. A healthy balance is what makes me sane. I think of goals, not worry. I try to not regret, just learn.
A beautiful poem, it tickled my mind.!

Welcome here Rohit! We all get entangled in this unfortunately. Goals are good…worrying about what we can’t control is not. Thanks for the comment. 🙂
