Feminism Fodder NaBloPoMo

Taking action

I mentioned in my previous post about being really busy and as a result, quite tired. So what’s been keeping me this busy?

Well, I have ventured a bit out of my comfort zone and started taking action. I joined a Feminist Group and a local Amnesty Action group. Yes I did. I figured I rant enough about women’s rights and children’s rights and it’s about time I try and do something too. So I joined both groups via Meetup.

Anyway, I attended a couple of meetings for both groups. I’m still a bit undecided on the Amnesty group. I guess I feel like while I am left wing, I’m not as much a leftie  as some of the members and not as passionate as some of the issues they are currently talking about. On the other hand, the Feminist Group definitely seems right up my alley. I attended a social dinner on Monday night where about 4 others were present. And we spent two and half hours talking. These are people I have never met before. And I managed to have a conversation over dinner for that long! It felt really good talking about stuff akin to what I blog about and read about on other blogs. One of the things I am looking forward to in this group apart from meeting like-minded individuals is the documentaries they screen. So yes, if you are a feminist in the Sydney area, do check out their website and the events that they organise.

So yeah, apart from my book club last week and another one tomorrow, I have also been socialising after work. Which is a big thing for me. Given that it’s been with people I don’t personally know.

But I’m excited. And I’m looking forward to the new year being filled with more of these and less of work from home.

Until next time,

Cheers!!!

Sometimes we don’t know what know what we are really capable of or what all we can do. And am so glad that u discovering a side of u (by socialising for a purpose) and liking it too.
As far as I am concerned I have been leading a rather mundane life and am so yearning for excitement that if I don’t get it soon then I am running away from everything 🙁
