Time to begin

Today I’ll begin my healthy eating
No more sweets or anything fattening
Fresh food it is all the way
Stuff I cook from scratch every single day

Today I’ll begin my exercise regime
Go for a run and a swim in the sea
Pump some iron at the gym
Add pilates to keep my tummy trim

Today I’ll begin to sleep a bit early
Try to hit the bed latest by ten thirty
Make sure I’m rested for seven hours at least
And able to function with coffees under three

Today I’ll begin to leave my work at work
Not bring home reports that drive me berserk
I’ll try and relax while in the evening I dine
Not think of work while I sip on my wine

Today I’ll begin to read a bit more
Curl up on the couch devouring books galore
Try to ensure I finish a book each week
Without the telly, laptop or anything with a screen

Today I’ll begin to spend more time with the cats
Playing fetch with them and spoiling the brats
Not to be half-hearted when we engage in play
Try to give them more love in the day

Today I’ll begin to change my life
Try and balance things while I also socialise
I need to remember to properly sleep and eat
Amidst all the time spent with people I meet

It seems as if the only way to begin all these
Needs the biggest change of all, if you please
I call for many more hours in the day
As with only 24, I can’t balance work, health, life and play!

      Oh tell me about it! Sigh…so much to do, so little time! I must say, the exercise thing is working ok for me even though I’ve taken a break this week…but I’d like to do more than just the gym. Except — no bloody time!

    Or maybe, plan less for each day.. Sometimes I wonder if we have very high expectations and try to cram too much into each day.. leading to backlogs and stress!
