Have you ever been in the presence of someone who intimidates you?

They don’t have to be verbally aggressive towards you. They don’t have to be physically aggressive towards you. They don’t even have to be your stereotype of someone who is big and has severaly tats all over their arms. They don’t have a big booming voice.

It’s more in the stuff that’s unsaid. Or the small things they notice. And just their presence.

They scare the shit out of you…

…even without doing anything.

I had an encounter with such a person today and still feeling this level of anxiety and feeling of discomfort in my chest as a result. I am just going to have to be mindful of this feeling and accept the thoughts that come with it.

And hopefully, it will get better.

Until next time,

Yes I have, and they seem to sense when you are at your most vulnerable. I think it is a bully’s sixth sense, being able to know when you are weak.
Had this happen a few months back, but it will bite this dick on the arse as I am not often in that frail state and now I am back full throttle, all he has done is piss me off. Mwahahaha…

Well it happened with me when I was a kid. I was afraid of a doctor who lived across the street. And that was mainly due to my parents-they used to make me eat telling me that if I dont eat, he would give me injection. And guess what, Even now whenever I talk to that doctor, I have that sense of fear inside me even though I know he is harmless and a very kind man.

Oh, I soooo know what you mean, I can take the outright agressive, biker types on no problem, it’s the eerie, calm, quiet-in-a-serial-killer-kinda-way people who scare the beejesus outta me!! That and the Stepford Wives.. shudder…

I am intimidated by my boss. Everyday at work, he gives me this look that I cannot escape. Everytime I try to calm myself down, I freak out and end up doing something stupid.

Assuming by tats you mean tattoos, I have a full back tattoo of a …(wait for it).. Dragon!!! Would that intimidate you? Lol (I am 5′ 6″ & weigh 41kgs… would that intimidate you?)
On a more serious note, yes I have felt intimidated like that, 5 years ago. But the person was huge & aggressive at the time. Even that person will not intimidate me now. I will bounce back at them stronger than ever!

@ Clarissa: I am generally an anxious person too when it comes to people in authority…but this person just gave me the chills as well. Was very strange…

@ MM: You’re right…I think they do sense when they have control…and it’s not good. Unfortunately, I can’t get pissed off with this person :/

@ Aditya: Lol. But you make a good point…I knew something about this person and it’s possible that’s what made me uncomfortable in the first place…

    @ BM: Thanks πŸ™‚

@ Mahmud: Yep…I really shouldn;t let the few people bother me but sometimes it’s a bit difficult πŸ™‚

@ Quixotic: You hit the nail on the head!!! That’s exactly what it was — the serial-killer kinda thing going on!!!

@ Matt: Hmm…so should I be afraid??? πŸ˜› I doubt you’d be intimidating but this person definitely had that going on as Quixotic and you have said…

@ Anamika: That must suck! Having a boss that’s that intimidating you end up making errors! :/ At least with this person, I’m hoping it was a one off…

@ Desininja: Lol! Does that mean you won’t be visiting any more??? πŸ˜›

@ Smita: I think these people have the serial killer thing happening like Quixotic mentioned. But the other thing is it could also be knowing something negative about them as Aditya said…

@ Pesto: Nah…I’m not intimidated by confidence. I’m anxious a bit in those situations because I worry about my own confidence but definitely not intimidated or scared.

@ Titaxy: There seem to be a lotta people out there like this, eh? Definitely doesn’t help if we are shy but I don’t think in this case it had to do with shyness. More to do with fear. Thanks for the huggs πŸ™‚

    @ Jessica: Thanks πŸ™‚

@ Magali: Lol…yes I am so intimidated by you!!! πŸ˜› Y’know, one of my first flatmates here was a bloke who had a shaved head and a huge eagle tattoo on his arm. But he was the nicest guy ever!!! This person though I am referring too had a more serial killer kinda think going on. Intimidating in a quiet manner.

I don’t think so…cuz the same girl told me a couple of weeks later that I was the ‘simplest’ nice guy she ever met(well that’s an understatement):P

The person you are referring to,might just be a calm dude who was on his way to volunteer for charity ,you never know!

I’ll never forget… just 2 weeks ago, we were taken to the museum (prince of Wales) as part of my college History trip. Obviously the museum get lot of foreigner visitors. When we were in the bus about to leave, we saw this tall-white guy with an eagle tattoo on his neck. And it was one huge eagle. The head of the eagle started just below his chin & the tail was on his collarbone. And the outstretched wings almost reached his ears. Very detailed, very scary! I can just imagine the pain he went through! But otherwise there was nothing scary about him. But I know what you mean about the serial killer types. Not experienced it, but read about it. Sounds terrifying.

@ Matt: Simplest nice guy??? πŸ˜› I can assure you the person I am referring to is very unlikely to be similar to you. There’s other stuff I knew about them that also possibly influenced my views about them…

@ Magali: I’m with you re the scariness of the pain to get large tattoos. I wondered that about yours as well!! I would love to get a tattoo (a small one) but I’m shit scared of the pain!!! πŸ˜›

I must mention that I was shit scared of the pain too! I checked around with a few parlors who said they administered local anesthesia. But they didn’t seem hygienic enough. Finally when I found the right tattoo parlor, the artist dissuaded me from using it. This coming from a girl who is deathly terrified of injections (Mom never stops reminding of the time I was screaming even before the needle touched my skin.) Have you ever used an epilator? The pain is much the same. But if you think it’s casual or fun, you won’t be able to bear it! I was a real trooper at the sittings!! I think if you want one the pain is nothing. Just a scratch.
