Remember all the stress I was talking about? Well, it just increased two-fold. One of the things I can’t talk about on the blog currently but maybe in a week or two I’ll be able to mention it. The other has to do with Pebbles.
I woke up this morning to find her with a red ear. It looked a bit like dried blood or at the very least, bruised to me. My assumption was that Buttons might have bitten her while they were wrestling and play-fighting around yesterday. But I couldn’t remember any yelps or anything from Pebbles. Anyway, 7 am I call the vet and manage to get an appointment for 8. I call in work to say I’m running late. Go to the vet with Pebbles complaining all the way through. Which by the way, always breaks my heart! The vet took a look and then said that it could be a bite but he also wanted to check for a possible fungal infection using this ultra-violet rays device. And guess what? After using it, we found that in fact, it was a fungal infection! Ringworm. So now Pebbles has to be on medication twice a day for the next 3-4 weeks. And what sucks is that in that time, there is a week when I won’t be around as I’m travelling with the family. So my friend N who has kindly agreed to pet-sit will have to do this instead. Pebbles has undergone a lot of stress in the past couple of months so I’m not surprised she caught the infection.
And now I have to also watch Buttons as ringworm is contagious. And myself. Because apparently, this is one infection that can pass on from animals to humans. The joys! I looked it up on the university of google upon getting to work and turns out even if I do catch it, it’s just tinia. On the other hand, if Buttons catches it, it’s another $100! Yes, vet bills are bloody expensive. Maybe I should consider hooking up with a vet. Would save a lot of money! 😉
So how has your Monday morning been?
Until next time,
