Coffee at home with Dolce Gusto

This is a sponsored post

I’m sure you all know how much I love coffee by now.

I know café style coffee at home has been the rage for a little while now but I don’t own any of those machines. Over the past 5 years, I have been quite satisfied with my drip-coffee machine. I guess more so because it was easy to run compared to what I thought the other machines did. Recently, I was contacted to review the new Dolce Gusto coffee machine range by Nescafé. And given my addiction to love for coffee, I jumped at the chance!

It is an automatic machine from the Genio range. It is currently selling for an RRP of $229 at major retailers. The machines use capsules which come in a variety of flavours. Each flavour gives you either 8 or 16 cups of coffee (or tea or hot chocolate) and the cost is $7.99. That equates to a mere 50 cents for some coffees to $1 for others. {And yes, the bargain hunter in me thought that was awesome}

Cappuccino and Hot Chocolate capsules

As part of the package, I was given complementary packs of Cappuccino, Hot Chocolate and Espresso Ristretto. I decided to take it in to work with me and share it with my colleague M with whom I share a daily coffee ritual anyway. We first had a Ristretto each. And then later in the day, she had a Cappuccino while I had the hot chocolate. I did try the cappuccino over the weekend at home. We found the machine really easy to work once we read the step-by-step instructions. And best of all, it was really quick! It was definitely less than a minute {apart from the first time when we were getting the hang of it}

As for the coffee, well, we both enjoyed the Ristretto immensely. I think that’s also because we like our coffee strong and this had the kick. We also enjoyed the Cappuccino and I loved the Hot chocolate. M did state that the cappuccino was like having one at a café and the only thing that could have made it better would have been to have chocolate powder to be able to sprinkle on the top! 🙂 We did find the cappuccino sweet but then again, we don’t normally add sugar to our coffees. In fact, I’m assuming the Skinny Cappuccino will be more my style of cap and will definitely be looking into that. There are also some iced drinks which I wouldn’t mind trying given summer is coming up.

Here are some pictures of the drinks we had:

Yummy hot chocolate

All in all, I think I’m going to enjoy this little machine. M thought he looked like a penguin. Which he does. And I found myself thinking that if he spoke, he’d sound like Wall-E.

***I was offered the coffee machine to review and keep by Nestlé. I did not receive any monetary compensation for the review of this product. The views here are entirely my opinion and are honest. They do not necessarily reflect the views of Nestlé***

Until next time,

Cheers!!!

    This machine looks really nice. Cafe Coffee Day came out with something very similar in India which I wanted to buy but decided against it because I’m worried about future availability of the capsules. They had just 2 or 3 different coffee varieties, it’s so nice that Dolce Gusto has Hot Chocolate too. And it’s very sleek.
