Today’s NaBloPoMo prompt is “What is the bravest thing you’ve ever done?”
I’d like to think I’ve done a lot. Overcoming my childhood fear of the dark for instance. Or facing my fear of public speaking. Or even dealing with other anxieties in social settings.
But one thing I never considered as being brave but that has been commented upon by a number of people is this: coming to a whole new country on my own and having no family or friends here at the age of 21. I never really thought of it as being brave. I think I thought that it’s something most people do.
But on the odd occasion I think back to the time I realize how it was brave. Brave because of doing something new. Brave for moving way out of my comfort zone. Brave for facing uncertainty on several fronts. Brave for meeting it all head on and continuing the journey.
So while it might be something a lot of people do, it was brave for shy and socially anxious introvert to do this.
What’s the bravest thing you’ve done??
Until next time,
