Some more reading challenges for 2013

I had written about four reading challenges I’d planned to take up in 2013 here. However, I’m not sure if the South Asian challenge is occurring at the moment given that the founder hasn’t mentioned anything so far. So I looked up other challenges and found one via Nishita’s blog and another just through a Google search. Here they are:

The Indian Quills Reading Challenge

The guidelines for these are very simple and can be found here. All we need to do is set a target re the number of books by Indian authors we want to read. Given that I have a few sitting on my bookshelf, this should be an appropriate challenge for me. I have decided on a small target though of 5 books.

Off The Shelf

Off the Shelf

I love the concept of this challenge: To get through those books that have been sitting and collecting dust on your bookshelf. I have about 40-odd books that are yet to be read on my shelf. I doubt I’ll get through all of them but I plan to attempt to get to the second level of this challenge, aptly named ‘Trying‘ where I read 15 books that are already on my shelf. Check out more details on signing up here.

So that’s it. No more reading challenges. I think I’ve joined quite enough. You can see the challenges on my sidebar under reading challenges and continue to follow my reviews here in the new year.

I’m excitedly waiting for 2013 now!

Until next time,

Cheers!!!

Just saw this post PB. I am doing the Good Reads challenge but this Off the Shelf challenge sounds great too! Like you, I have several books on my shelf and my Kindle that are yet to be read. The Indian author challenge is cool too and ties in with the Off the Shelf challenge haha. I will look into it. Best of all, both challenges will help me work towards the Good Reads challenge anyway.

That’s what I figured for me too…most of the challenges overlap and the Goodreads challenge gets completed in that way. Glad that I’m following you now on Goodreads too!
