2013: A time to look ahead

First and foremost, wish you all a very Happy New Year!! Hope you all had a wonderful New Year’s Eve celebration.

As I mentioned, I went in to the city with friends. Unfortunately, unless you choose to pay $100 or camp out the night before, it’s hard to get good spots to see the fireworks in all their glory. We got a spot to picnic along Macquarie St and while we saw the fireworks, I think next year, I’ll be happy watching it on TV. I did have a nice time with my friend and her friends though. Oh and I also learnt it’s kinda hard to get good pictures of fireworks!

Unless you are the media I suppose.

Now that 2012 is over, it’s time for me to look ahead. Have I made any resolutions this year? Β Not really. But here are some things I’d like to see myself do;

Better work-life balance: Honestly, this year I plan to stop bringing work home. No more reports at home. Which basically means I need to manage my time better at work and not be distracted when working on my reports. Yes, they suck. But they are part of the job and I have no other choice. This way at least I can enjoy my weekends and my nights without typing away reports.

Continue my health kick: Given that I have almost reached my weight-loss goal (check my ticker on the sidebar!), I intend on continuing to be healthy this year. And that includes toning my body. Hopefully, I won’t fall sick as often as last year!

Manage my finances: My finances kinda went off track last year and this year I plan on starting to seriously save again. Which means, no more unnecessary furniture for the house {it’s fully furnished!}, fewer books and clothes and shoes {yes, it’s been more than books this past year!}, paying off my credit card and then not spending on it. I have some other goals I want to be saving for and so I’m definitely going to have to get on track for that.

Get out of my comfort zone: I’m going to try and do things that are out of my comfort zone a bit more. That most likely involves being a bit social. I know I started a bit towards the end of last year and I plan on continuing the same. Additionally, I am going to try and attend some blogger events in the area if possible.

So that’s about it. I really hope 2013 is better than 2012 for me personally. Better health for me and my kitty cats, good weather, continuing good friendships and less stress.

Have you made any resolutions for 2013? Do share.

***I am linking over with IBOT at Essentially Jess***

Until next time,

Cheers!!!

Excellent resolutions. I am with you on the finance thing, definitely need to get that under control! My only resolution is to work on patience. Getting more of it and not losing that which I have. It’s not gonna be easy but I am determined!

    Happy New Year!

Welcome here Kylez! It’s so hard to get back on track once you’ve slipped with finances, don’t you reckon? Oh well…

I love your resolution. I think it’s something I should take up in some aspects of my life.

Those are some great goals for the new year. One of mine is getting out of my comfort zone with my blogging and meeting other bloggers. So I found you from ibot. πŸ˜€ have a great year.

We went and saw the early fireworks in Melbourne this NYE for the first time. Although I did enjoy myself, you are right, you can see more on the TV.
Good luck with your goals for this year. I plan on seeing more of the beauty in every day πŸ™‚

Welcome here Tracey! I don’t know how some families with kids do it…waiting for hours to see the fireworks. I reckon as a kid, I probably would have gotten cranky after a while. Glad you enjoyed the fireworks!

Oh and I do like your resolution. It’s something so simple and yet something we forget as we carry on with our routines…

I haven’t made any goals or NYRs. 2012 had a few major upheavals so I think in 2013 I am just going to go easy on myself as I try to pick up all the pieces and work out where to from here!

Welcome here Redlandcitygirl! Yours sounds like a very reasonable choice given you had a difficult year. 2012 wasn’t so hot for me either and I was really glad to see it end. Hope things get better for you in 2013!
