A girl can dream: A romantic date in Queensland

This is a sponsored post for eHarmony Australia.

With winter hitting Sydney much earlier than expected, all I personally want to do is curl up on the couch with my laptop or a good book, sip a glass of red wine and watch DVDs or crappy TV in the background. Which is fine if my motto for this year had been the same as every other year. But with 2013 being the year when I aim to get out of my comfort zone, sitting on the couch is not an option.

As some of you who follow my blog probably know, I have been going on a few dates this year. Which kinda means I plan on continuing it through the cold winter months.
And it’s now I wish I could hibernate for the winter and fly up north to warmer Queensland {compared to where I am at least!} to enjoy some romantic dates. And so I found myself wondering…if I was in Queensland, where would I go?

Now I went up to Cairns, Brisbane and the Gold Coast last year. But that was with my family.

I would love to go back to Cairns where I think an amazing date would be snorkelling and scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef. An all day thing. Given that I love the outdoors and the water in particular, for me this would be one of the best things ever. Unlike the time with my family though, I would prefer to go with fewer people {not like a cruise with a lot of people} but preferably just with my date and someone who can actually manoeuvre the boat!

Yet another outdoor date for me is bushwalking. And Brisbane has a lot of bushwalks on offer. There is a national park called the Brisbane Forest Park which I would definitely be keen to explore. There are walks such as the Greenes Falls walk or the Rainforest Circuit which seem to offer a great walk as well as picnic spots. What better way to spend a date than enjoy what nature has to offer while getting some exercise at the same time? Yes, I know I am a bit nuts but it really does appeal to me!

Apart from the outdoors, I do like my indoor stuff too. I promise!!! And consequently, a romantic yet entertaining date night for me would be a visit to the Queensland Performing Arts Centre in Brisbane to watch a play. I love the theatre but don’t really find many people to go with. The ex and I would frequent one in Sydney but it was a cheaper one. As a big night out, I’d love to go some place fancy like the QPAC where you have to dress up a bit and have dinner at a nice restaurant or wine bar nearby before enjoying the play.

Finally, a night filled with good food and laughs for me is also considered a romantic date. And what better way than to attend a stand-up comedy show at either The Dockside Comedy Bar or The Sit Down Comedy Club {I love the name of this one…}. While I enjoy some of the big name comedians, I’m always open to new comedians because I still reckon they can be pretty damn funny. And a lot less expensive!

So there you go — now if only I could get the money and well, the date, I’m all set for my Queensland adventures! 😛

As you know, I tried online dating for a while as a way to meet new people. If like me you’re single but are looking for love and don’t know how, then click here to find out more. While online dating didn’t work for me, I still met some interesting people and had some blog fodder as you know. I’ve heard from a few people at work who met their husbands and wives through this resource that it’s an easy way to find people suited to you. Whether you’re looking for a Sydney sweetheart, or a relationship in Queensland, online dating is one of the options for you.

So I’ve shared my views about what makes a perfect romantic date for me.

How about you? What do you consider a romantic date?

Do share.

Until next time,

Cheers!!!
