Out and About

Out and about in Jervis Bay

Back in November, I visited Jervis Bay a couple of times; once on a two night camping trip at Bristol Point and the other time for an early Christmas Getaway with friends to Hyams Beach at the end of the month. Jervis Bay is about a 2.5 hours drive south of Sydney. Due to the distance and the amazing beaches, it has become an extremely popular holiday spot. To the point where I know of few friends who could not find any holiday accommodation in December-January.

When in Jervis Bay, camping is car-camping. In other words, you are not hiking and carrying your stuff in your backpack as you can park your car near the camp site. Which was a first for me given my first two camping experiences were Victoria Falls to Govett’s Leap and The Six Foot Track {Yeah, I just dive right in!}. Additionally, unlike the previous two trips, there were on-site toilets that flushed and hot water showers. Showers! So basically, for me, this was luxury! The two most common and popular camping sites are located within Booderee National Park: Green Patch and Bristol Point. They are both close to the water and all in all, a fantastic location! There are several walking tracks around the area and maps can be accessed from the visitor’s centre.

Here are some photos from the camping trip:

I definitely want to keep going back to explore the different walking tracks and enjoy the sun, surf and sand. We are hoping to camp in autumn which I am looking forward to. By then, the touristy madness would have hopefully reduced. My photos don’t do the place any justice.

Until next time,

Cheers!!!

It’s been a while since I’ve went to Jervis Bay. Sand is so white and beautiful there.

Jervis Bay is an amazing place Ava! Seen so many wallabies out there now…and sadly, on long drives, so many dead roos and wallabies that have been hit by vehicles.
