The story behind Over Cups of Coffee

coffee

Coffee. It has been my saviour since my undergraduate days. It has been my life. It has helped blood rush through my veins and made my brain function when on the brink of giving up. It has been a necessity.

But more than that, coffee has also been a connector. It was over cups of coffee that my friends and I discussed our plans post-undergrad days. It was over cups of coffee we gossiped about our lecturers and the students we weren’t particularly fond of. It was over cups of coffee we shared our dreams and bared our souls to one another.

Fast forward a few years later and it was over cups of coffee I began making new friends and starting out new relationships. It was over cups of skim cappuccino or flat whites that we discussed our upcoming assignments and how to tackle them. Or just took a break in between a day filled with lectures and tutorials. Catching up in the holidays over coffee was just another way to bond. Discussing the ups and downs of our relationships over a cup of coffee and cake was quite the norm.

Cups of coffee at work are also a bonding experience; whether we stand together while waiting for the coffee to brew in the plunger and discuss our previous evenings and lack of sleep or just sip on the coffee discussing difficulties with clients. It is also a way of connecting with people at the coffee shop I buy a cappuccino at most mornings after the gym and before work. A routine that is comfortable and uplifting. Coffee is also the saviour on the Saturdays when I do work and my boss buys me a skim cappuccino without fail knowing just how much I love it. And need it.

Finally, coffee is also an essential at the start of a bush walk or if we take a break around civilization. It energises us. And it brings us closer together.

Only another coffee-lover understands how essential it is to have that perfect cup of coffee each day. And just how many conversations can be had over cups of coffee.

That, my dear readers, is the story behind the name of my blog. It is over cups of coffee that I have continued to keep and maintain bonds with wonderful people having conversations about our dreams, passions, goals and well, life in general.

Just like on this blog.

Do share the story behind the name of your blog!

***Linking up with Suzy Que who came up with the prompt to explain the name of your blog. Feel free to link up your story there too. Also linking up with Kirsty for I must confess…***

Until next time,

Cheers!!!

Coffee is to you as hot chocolate is to me, so I totally get what you’re saying πŸ˜€ I enjoy a cup of coffee once in a while, but I did go through a phase where I couldn’t keep my eyes open without my morning cuppa (and that’s why I stopped)! My discussions with friends post-undergrad days often took place over a bar of chocolate or a tall glass of chocolate ice cream shake ^_^

I cannot survive without coffee and it’s the reason for my being. Guess, we are similar in this aspect coz bonded and made friends in college over coffee. From time-to-time, love hanging at the coffee shop and reading a book..it soothes the nerves:)

Awesome!! loved this post.. .It totally justifies your blog title and page! πŸ™‚ I am more of a tea person. I love coffee nonetheless. But the times spent at tapris sipping chai and yapping over life and all those things, are more prominent for me, than talks over coffee! πŸ˜›

I think it’s so funny that I don’t drink coffee, haven’t for almost 10 years and yet I will still text my friends and say ‘shall we do coffee this week?’…. Saying ‘shall we do hot chocolate this week’ just doesn’t quite have the same ring to it! Lol… I think you are right though… Catching up over a cup of ‘whatever it may be’ is such a wonderful part of our culture I think!
