How to make extra money on the side. Sort of.

This post is brought to you by Knowledge to Action.

With the federal budget now out, we all know life is going to be harder. {Well, for some of us!} I’m one of those people who gets screwed by budgets because I don’t have a family, am on a single income and work full time. In other words, I give a lot and don’t get much back in terms of benefits.

But never fear, I figured there’s got to be ways to make some extra money on the side. See if I can get into one of those tax brackets that sees me all cushy and comfy. These were some ideas I came up with:

1. Telephone chat line: Get your minds out of the gutter. I’m not referring to those lines people call late at night. Just actual phone calls. In this era of texting and Facebook group chats and Whataspp and all that, I think we have forgotten the art of just having a normal phone conversation. This telephone chat line could be for people like me who miss talking on the phone but don’t have many friends who like talking on the phone. And well, who better to have listen to you than a psychologist?? {See what I did there!}

2. Lead hikes and organise camping trips: You all know how much I love hiking and camping and most of my weekends are spent doing one of it. So what better way to make some extra cash on the side by actually having people pay for my company my organisation of these trips? I do currently organise a few trips but do it for the fun of it. I’m sure people would pay, right? 😀

3. Be a personal online shopper for busy people: I’m not the biggest fan of shopping in stores. Most of the clothes shopping I do at the moment is online. But I’ve had to put a stop to it because well, the whole lack-of-money thing. But I still enjoy looking at stuff online only to sigh and realise I can’t afford it. So to indulge myself, as well as to make some extra money, I would gladly offer my services to those people who are just way too busy to even shop online. You own personal *online* shopper!

4. Teaching you to get out of your comfort zone: I reckon I could take classes now or become one of those motivational speakers to teach you how to get out of your comfort zone. Are you with me? YES! Can we do it? YES! {You get the gist…}. But no, seriously, given just how much I have personally gotten out of my own comfort zone since the beginning of 2013, I reckon I could easily call myself an *ahem* expert *ahem* in the field. And what better way than to pass on my wisdom to others? For a price? 😛 {A girl’s gotta live…}

5. Ghost writing: I love writing. Hence the blog. But maybe I could make some extra $$ on the side by writing for others. I’m sure there are people who love to keep blogs but well, don’t have the time to come up with posts. I could charge to write a post or two every week for a fee. I’m sure that would work. Right?

On a serious note, I wish I did know ways to make money on the side but I must admit, I am pretty happy to have a job with stable income at the moment given how trying times can be. I am always up for making money with my blog though {hint, hint!!} so feel free to approach me for that.

There are always more serious avenues like learning to trade. Knowledge To Action has a fun little quiz you can take to see how well you know your currencies. Turns out, I don’t know them all too well…I guess I won’t quit my day job just yet.

Do you have any tips for making money on the side?

Do share!
