Healthy Living

Oodles of guilt

beach

I’ve been on my road trip since last Sunday and while I’ve been enjoying every moment, there are a couple of things bothering me:

1. Lack of exercise

2. Very bad diet

I am scared to go back to Sydney tomorrow…you can bet I have gained a couple of kilos. All that fudge I bought in Tilba is sure to show on the scales, All the wine and cider I’ve been indulging in will have consequences. The desserts I have had, the meals that I’ve eaten outside of home, the cheese that I bought — oh boy — I’m feeling guilty even writing it all down. I tried to make up for the unhealthy sweets by occasionally cooking a dinner of steak and veggies. But I really doubt that undid any of the calories from the sweets and alcohol.

Usually when I eat like this, I feel a little okay given that I exercise almost 5 times a week.ย But this time around, I haven’t exercised for almost 10 days now. I haven’t exercised because well, I’ve been in a holiday-funk {read: lazy} and have also been told by my physio not to run. I had initially thought I’d be hiking but I chickened out of solo hikes that were too long due to possible dangers. I haven’t even bothered to exercise indoors and apart from a couple of hostels, I could have easily exercised in the rest of my accommodation using some of the fitness apps. But no. Instead, I preferred to do this:

me

From Thursday, it’s back to the gym. In fact, I’m so worried right now, I’m contemplating exercising twice a day. Maybe morning at the gym and post-work go for a swim or something. Anything! And I really need to give up sweets completely for an entire month but I doubt June is the right month to do that given I have three birthdays to go to and a house-warming. Sigh.

Maybe I should just overdo the exercise to compensate.

Or are there any other recommendations?

How do you manage a healthy lifestyle when on holidays?

Do share!

***Linking with Jess for IBOT. Because it’s a Tuesday***

Until next time,

Cheers!!!

You look so relaxed! So I reckon just get back on that horse when you get home, don’t beat yourself up over it, enjoy the indulgence and isn’t that why you work out so hard anyway so you can have a few times when you indulge! Love the first pic! Em – also visiting as part of #teamIBOT

I indulge like you and just feel guilty. ๐Ÿ™‚
But I can’t not exercise. I just feel too bad if I don’t so I’ll walk further if I need to, or try and do incidental jogging when I can.
I’m sure if you’re strict when you get home it won’t take you long to get back into the swing of things.

I think you must simply relax. With once a day workout, you will be back in shape very soon! Well for me, vacations mean vacations from healthy routine too!! ๐Ÿ˜›

Vacations are like that with all our routines gone out the window. I go to Weight Watchers and they constantly say not to beat yourself up, so that’s my advice. You enjoyed yourself and that’s what’s important, right? When you get back to your regular routine, you can put your regime in place and eat healthier and exercise. The main thing is to shed the guilt which is heavier than the pounds you put on!

I say stop the guilt right now! Guilt about food and exercise does not help in the long run. I say get back on that horse when you get home and keep moving forward. Remember too that you were on holidays, you are allowed to enjoy yourself and you look so relaxed in your picture so it must have been worth it.
