Out and About

Travel Tales: Tilba. From times gone by.

Before I embarked on this road trip, one of my colleagues at work recommended I stop at Tilba Tilba. “You just have to see it” she said. And didn’t add much more. I didn’t Google it prior to leaving. It was supposed to be a spontaneous trip, remember? All I saw was where it was on the map and figured I’d stop there and if it took my fancy, could always stay there. I briefly stopped there on my way to Eden and found out it was a small but cute town. But apart from having lunch and a coffee and buying some fudge, I didn’t stick around too long.

But then, after eating the fudge when I arrived at Eden, I realised I just had to go back for more! After driving along the Sapphire Coast and staying at Bermagui, I headed to Central Tilba. This time around,  I spent more time and took more photos.

The fudge that brought me back: Mrs Jamieson's fudge

Central Tilba is the the main town and is something out of a historic story book. It has one main street with a bakery, a newsagent-market-petrol-post-fudge-souvenir place, {it’s all in one!}, a café, a jewellery store, cheese factory, a lolly shop, a tea shoppe, a candle shop and a vintage store. Tilba Tilba has Pam’s store and a garden. It also has the Gulaga Mountain walk {which again, I didn’t do}. There is also a winery which I didn’t end up visiting.

The Lolly shop. It’s like being in Charlie & the chocolate factory inside!

Here are some shots of Reva’s Jewellery store. I spent a lot of time and money there. Some of the jewellery was just too beautiful to resist. Trust me, had I had more money, I could have bought so much more!!

Funky as!

I had to stop at the cheese shoppe of course given my love for cheese. I did buy a couple of different types — with chilli and with olives and garlic. Yummo!

Cheeeeese…

So I ended spending a whole lot of money at Tilba. Super-small town it might be but its quaint and unique style had me hooked. The people were lovely especially at the jewellery store, the cheese shop, the candle shop and the fudge place. It’s no surprises that’s where I spent my money! 😀

If you are ever headed down south in New South Wales, don’t forget to stop at Tilba. Just for the experience of it all.

Until next time,

Cheers!!!
