The joys of being sick

herbaltea

On Tuesday morning, I woke up with a bit of a sore throat. I still pushed myself to hit the gym and head to work after downing a spoonful of honey. I guess I hoped some lemon & ginger tea would do the trick. It didn’t. I left work a bit early feeling sorry for myself. {And extremely peeved at not being able to go to the Shred and Pilates classes at the gym in the evening!}

I decided in bed last night that I wouldn’t go in today as I was still quite crook after several cups of hot water with real ginger and honey and some cinnamon {thanks for the cinnamon tip Gayel!} I left a message last night on the work phone saying I wouldn’t be coming in today. For once, I turned off my alarms {usually scheduled for 4:45 and one for 5} on both my phone and tablet. And I went to bed at 9.

I guess the beauty of being sick is that you finally give your body the rest it deserves. I slept through till 430. {Yes, body clock ensured I still woke up without the alarm!} But then I promptly went back to sleep again till about 8. Yes. 11 hours of sleep. The rest of the morning, I lay on the couch and read. I finally caught up on reading a novel that had been waiting for me {review to come shortly} and loved the peace and the bliss. I enjoyed having the cats come up for cuddles as I read. I slept for a couple of hours in the afternoon after a shower. Woke up at 5 pm. And now here I am — blogging.

I love being busy and love my daily life which involves exercise, work, socialising, blogging, enjoying the outdoors, and trying to juggle a lot. But sometimes, in this busyness, I forget to just relax. I almost feel guilty for ‘doing nothing’. Until my body reminds me it’s okay.

I had a good day being sick. Even if I did get a bit tired of blowing my nose for the zillionth time and am starting to look like Rudolph’s cousin!

So you know what? I’m not complaining about being sick for a day.

{I will if it continues for longer than that!}

What about you?

Are you okay with occasionally falling sick?

Do share!

P.S. Have you entered the Imperfect Giveaway yet? It is open worldwide and entries close 31st July!

Until next time,

Cheers!!!

      Yeah I can’t either but when I’m sick, it’s like the body is telling me to relax! Completely! 🙂

    Feel the same way. I usually only get sick enough to be able to stay home once a year. I read as well.

    Get well soon! I can relate to feeling guilty for doing nothing but we often forget/ignore how important rest days are!

    I actually enjoy sick days and being able to rest. But sometimes, I get very homesick because there is no one to pamper me and I have to take care of everything even when I am sick (which I hate)!
    On a regular basis, I try to do nothing for at least one day (usually weekend) every month to relax and recharge! Hope you’re feeling better now!
