2015 goals and dreams

medium_4791202713

I know we are 13 days into the new year and most of the blogosphere has already unleashed posts about resolutions, words, goals and the like. Well, I have been away on holidays for the first 12 days and while I have had time to think, I haven’t had access to this space to put down my thoughts into words. I didn’t do too badly with my 2014 goals which makes me realise that as long as they are realistic and something about your lifestyle as a whole, it is possible to stick to these goals. When I was on holidays, I had time to reflect on what I want personally and professionally this year. Call them resolutions, goals or dreams, but these are a few things I’m planning on working on or towards in 2015:

Freelance writing: This is the year I plan on getting more serious about my writing. I completed a couple of courses on the same last year and while I’m still at uni, I will pursue more options with magazines. I know I’m yearning to write more and hopefully, my persistence will get me somewhere.

Making my house a home: I’ve been in my current home for over 5 years now and with my last house mate moving out just before Christmas, JK and I figured he will move in with me. I’m excited at him moving in but also actually now having the space to make this home. My walls are bare and my balcony is full of dead plants. I plan to put up more pictures, plant new herbs, and make the place cosier. If money is handy, I’d love to redo my floors — get rid off the carpet and put floorboards/tiles instead.

Healthy living: Exercise is not an issue for me as I love it. My first day back home and I hit the gym this morning. The eating though, has always been an issue. I had been doing well until December hit. Luckily, the damage is only half a kilo but I plan to go back to making meal plans, eating healthy and drinking only on the weekends. I also want to go a whole month without alcohol and a whole month {or more} without added sugars.

Building the blog: I want to build this space further. I have plans for a linky too — a monthly one. Over the last two years, I have reflected back on the month gone past and it has been a nice way to think about my month. Given that time just seems to whizz past, it’s a good way of capturing moments as well as highlighting some of my posts. I thought a monthly link-up — The Month that was — would be a nice way of also reading on others’ reflections. Of course, I want to tidy up the blog a bit more, look through past posts and edit the presentation, offer some relevant guest posts spots and make room for ads on the blog.

Be Open: I want to continue this from last year. I think I did pretty well being open as a person last year. I want to continue that in 2015 and take it further. I was to be open to new experiences, open to risks, open to life, open to travel, open to meeting new people, open to admitting when I am wrong, open to new opportunities professionally and personally.

Hopefully, 2015 is an exciting year. I have travel plans, plans to finish uni, plans to start a life with JK, plans to continue hiking and camping, plans to write, plans to read more and well, cope with my job.

Let’s see how things go!

What are your goals, resolutions, plans or hopes for 2015?

Do share!

Half a kilo weight gain is damage?? 😀 For me, half a kilo would be Monday. LOL.
But yes, I believe setting positive goals and constantly reassessing and motivating yourself towards them does help… I guess I am a sucker for Rhonda Bryne’s “The Secret” philosophy.

I think they sound likely really reasonable, able to be accomplished goals. I like the idea of the monthly linky too. Looking back is always fun 🙂

I think you’ve done really well for someone who’s not had much time to think and reflect. I think all of those goals sound achievable. Good luck with the writing and I hope you can turn your house into a home. #teamIBOT

Good luck for achieving your goals, Sanch. As for me, I stopped having New Year resolutions. I guess I will just continue my emphasis on health and fitness.

Great plans for the year ahead! I love the sound of your monthly link up as I do like your monthly review posts!
My word for 2015 is ‘enough’ and I am focussing on me this year with lots of travel and bucket list plans and hoping to work out what I want to be when I grow up!! haha
