Life

This Christmas

This Christmas, I’m feeling a bit blah. I haven’t been looking forward to it. In fact, in an ideal world, I would be by myself and with my thoughts, my laptop and a book. It could be the stress of the year, particularly the tail end of things. It could be trying hard to wrap things up at work and being quite emotional. It could be that Mr Imperfect’s work contract didn’t get renewed. It could be that I’m just over 2015 for now.

This Christmas, things have been a bit quieter than last year. In a way, it’s a good thing. I haven’t felt up to being too social. I had two Christmas catch-ups with friends and one work Christmas lunch in the last few weeks. We have Christmas breakfast with Mr Imperfect’s parents this morning. I’m glad it isn’t a big thing.

This Christmas, I’m missing my family. We don’t celebrate Christmas. But I’m missing just having them around {Even though in reality, after a week we get frustrated with one another!} Maybe because Christmas is about family. I’m missing my sister and my parents. I don’t need them to be with me. Just around.

This Christmas, I’m trying hard to be positive. To be grateful for all I do have. To reflect on the year gone by and pull out the silver linings. It’s hard sometimes and the ‘woe-is-me’ feeling tends to take over.

This Christmas, I’m going to eat, drink and fake it. Because sometimes, faking it helps. You start to believe yourself. Seriously though, I need to be grateful. To think happy thoughts. To not be so cynical and negative.

On that note, wishing you all a Merry Christmas! I hope you enjoy good times with family, friends, good food and wine.

I’m not gone yet from the blog for the year. There is my wrap-up post that’s yet to come. Stay tuned.

So until then,

Cheers!!!

Fake it til you make it? Why not. If it doesn’t happen, that’s okay. You don’t have to be happy all the time- I hope your worries lift soon xx Merry Christmas!

Hugs, and hugs, Sanch. Let’s look forward to a bright 2016! I love the thing about wanting families to be around. Rather like seeing your favorite folks showing up online on your chat list even if you don’t actually chat with them. 🙂

There’s a little saying we sometimes use with beginning teachers… ‘Fake it til you make it!’

Hope you had a lovely day and were able to see the bright side.
