Why hello April! It’s good to see you. Saying hi to you means saying goodbye to another month. Yes, March, I’m looking at you. What’s weird this time around is that although I say every time ‘time flies’, this time around I can’t believe it’s only April. Because life has been so busy and I’m so bloody tired, my mind and body are both convinced it’s nearing the end of the year! And it’s only April!
Anyway, so back to March. March signalled the beginning of autumn but fortunately for me, still had some warm days I could spend at the beach. Once again, my time management skills were pretty shit in March resulting in only 9 posts for the month. March was also shitty in terms of diet and exercise. I’m not sure what’s happening but my motivation has gone out the window — this after joining a new gym to actually suit my timings!
In March, once again, I read a fair bit although I reviewed only two here so far. Richard Glover’s Flesh Wounds is a definite recommendation from me but not so much Malcolm Knox’s Summerland. I read another beautiful book which I finished in two days and I’m in the process of writing a review that will do it justice. I also finally got around to writing about Cat Yoga that Ashleigh and I went to in February.
My mood has been shit in March. It’s been making me want to curl up in a ball and sleep. Forever. Yet, I keep dragging myself out of bed to face each day. I guess the lack of exercise doesn’t help and the bad diet adds to the bad mood. I can’t win! I’ve also been feeling like I’m having a midlife crisis of sorts. I finally went hiking in March again. I did a couple of day hikes that were amazing and one overnight hike over the long weekend that almost killed me. Fun times!
It wasn’t all doom and gloom though. I checked out a new Indian restaurant thanks to a friend of mine where you get street food. Review will be up shortly. I also indulged in some creative nonfiction writing after observing a girl on the bus I caught and enjoyed a lighthearted post on who my fictional friend would be.
Finally, I did something slightly impulsive a couple of days ago. In between feeling really down and not knowing where my life is headed, I bought a new domain name and set up a hosting account. Basically, I set up a new blog which I’m going to use purely for writing. It will be a blog including my fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry and just posts about writing in general. I guess I was thinking about it as a portfolio of sorts if I want to make that career change I was talking about but more so, just to have me writing. I’ll still continue here with other posts — the personal ones, the ones on mental health, the opinions and views, the adventures, book reviews, the lighthearted ones and well, life. 🙂
Of course, I know with my lack of organisation at the moment and whinging about fitting things in, this quite possibly was the worst thing to do! But you know, I like making life interesting for myself! 😛
How was March for you?
