Broken Glass

glass-101792_1280

My heart is broken
Like shards of glass
Scattered
On the floor
You ripped it out
With your actions
Concerned
About me no more

I feel a numbness
Like anaesthetic
Unfeeling
Despite the pain
My eyes are puffy
With tears gone dry
Rejection,
I can’t do again

My mind it wonders
Why I do this
Trusting
Others in life
When all that happens
Is being let down
Forever
When I’m in strife

I may be imperfect
I’m battling through
Struggling
One step at a time
But when you hurt me
It sets me back
Believing
I am but, grime

Nice usage of the prompt. It takes time to get back up from this fall, because though we try to fix it the cracks remain. With one step at a time, one can move on and heal.

I agree Dashy…the cracks tend to stay no matter how much we try and stick them together. Thank you xx

A broken heart hurts like hell. Even as you try to make sense of it all and try to heal and recover from the blow, cracks remain and sadly they never go away!

Wow Sanch – very powerful and very impressive. I’m hopeless with poetry so am always so impressed by those with the talent to sparsely use words to convey so much!

Sad. The broken glass has to mend itself no matter how difficult it is.

No, Sanch, you are not grime, you are a magnificent being! Just see how beautifully you have woven these words together to form such an emotional piece ! I could feel every emotion pouring out of each word here! Well done!

Beautifully expressed. Though these times are hard I believe that all endings are actually beginnings. Love and hugs.

Beautiful and moving! Mending a broken heart is tough and it is scary to compare it with broken glass which I believe is impractically irreparable!

Very emotional read Sanch.. you put it together so beautifully even though it is sad. The good thing is maybe something good will come out of it..it often does:-)

the wound heals but scars remain. With time, we learn to live with them too. Don’t let others define how you feel. Beautifully expressed.

Gathering oneself from broken pieces(emotions) is truly a difficult task. Well written for the prompt 🙂

Hugs. Sometimes, healing brings those marks but it’s okay to let go and accept what comes our way.

Loved the way you used the prompt to describe the emotions. Sometimes we need those broken glass to know our true strength.

Powerful. It really feels painful when someone goes away and breaks our heart, and it’ll be a while before that glas seems somewhat mended. But I agree with Sheethal. That broken glass one day shows our true strength.
