There is some good in the world #FridayReflections

At present, there seems to be so much hate and evil in the world. There are people killing innocent people. There are individuals vilifying all individuals of a certain religion because of an evil minority. There are women being beaten, bashed and raped. Children are being abused – sexually, physically and emotionally. It’s a wonder that we are not constantly consumed by doom and gloom.

Even if we ignore things on a global scale, it’s hard to watch the bad in everyday life. The unfairness of why some kids have shitty parents. Or why some people take advantage of others. Or why kids are cruel to other kids. When bombarded with messages like these, you sometimes have to wonder, what’s the point of this world? What’s the point of this life?

And yet, there is goodness.

There is goodness in the one nice kid that speaks to the kid others ignore. There is goodness in the counsellor who goes above and beyond her call of duty by trying to help out someone else. There is goodness in the teacher who accepts their quirky pupil selflessly. There is goodness in the man who allows a car to cut in during peak hour traffic. There is goodness in the person who shares their umbrella during an unprecedented storm. There is goodness in the teenager who admits their mistake. There is goodness in the woman that forgives those who have done her wrong. There is goodness in the man who supports his wife through her mental illness. There is goodness in the strangers who stand up to racist taunts.

There is goodness in the world. The only problem is, it doesn’t make the headlines. It doesn’t get a nation talking. But it’s important. It’s oh-so-important. Which is why we must talk about it. And fight for it.

Because in the end, it’s the goodness that will trump the hate.

If you are new to Friday Reflections, here’s what it’s about. It’s the end of the week, you’re probably exhausted with work, and all you want to do is sit back, put your feet up, sip on some fancy cocktail or wine, and write away.

Corinne from Everyday Gyaan and yours truly give you writing prompts and all you have to do is choose any one of those prompts to blog about and link up every Friday. The link will be open till the Monday. After you link up, be sure to spread the love by visiting other bloggers who have linked up too.

Feel free to add our Friday Reflections badge to your post or sidebar! Follow us on Twitter @FridayReflect and join our Facebook Group. Share your post on social media with the hashtag #FridayReflections.

Prompts for this week:

1. Do you or have you ever collected anything? Share your story
2. Put your iPod on shuffle. List the first 10 songs that play and how you feel about them
3. Pick up the book you are currently reading, go to page 27 and write a post starting with the first line on that page.
4. “There is some good in this world, and it’s worth fighting for.” – J R R Tolkein. Use this quote in your post or as an inspiration for one.
5. Picture Prompt (credit: Living my Imperfect Life)

Last week, we had two featured writers as voted by you: Geetika for her poetic skills and Bellybytes for why her blog is named such. You too can be in the running for our next featured writer. All you need to do is write a post on one of the prompts above, link up below and share. Then come back on Monday and vote for your favourite post.

Until next time,

Cheers!!!

THIS: There is goodness in the world. The only problem is, it doesn’t make the headlines. It doesn’t get a nation talking. But it’s important. It’s oh-so-important. Which is why we must talk about it. And fight for it.

WORD. So very true. We never see the good or hear about the good stuff, at least not as much. Very wise and powerful words.

Many of us in the United States had “love trumps hate” bumper stickers during last year’s election. Now, we are left with trying to counter what is happening, here and elsewhere, with small acts of kindness. I don’t know, Sanch. Despite the kindness shown to us in my post, I just don’t know.

There is a lot of good out there in the world. I have this unshakable belief that there is always someone looking out for me and dispensing goodness my way….and goodness and good people don’t need acknowledgement…….they need to get on with the good work they do and don’t have time for bows …….

There is a lot of good in the world. The random acts of kindness, the smiles exchanged with strangers, a small tip to who never expected – that all goodness. We need to be a part of it. Lovely post, Sanch!

In today’s world, goodness seems to be something of the past. No one is perfect. Not one of us and we all make bad decisions in life that we wish we’d never made and has done things that we wish we would have never done. Choosing to be a good person comes with peace. I encourage everyone to seek after goodness. We should treat people like we want to be treated. And it’s never to late to gain goodness. We all can change for the better. We should never let goodness slip away.

    Cheers then.
