A fortnight ago, I finished the writing job I commenced in late August last year. It wasn’t because I disliked it but rather, it was getting too much for me to work over 50 hours a week. However, I agreed to stay on casually until they find a replacement which means just running one webinar every fortnight. Creating content on psychology and mental health for adults was interesting and enjoyable as was running webinars. And so, when I wrapped up, I didn’t really want to let go of that.
So I decided to create a new project for myself.
I decided to start a new website focussing on child and adolescent mental health and wellbeing – Toddlers to Teens Psychology.
It is my specialty after all and in my tenth year as a developmental psychologist, I feel like I have enough to offer in the field. Combine that with my love for writing, I thought it’d be a nice way to impart generic information about it all.
I need to make sure though everything is right in terms of legalities and disclaimers as I will be publishing the content as a registered psychologist. It means I need to abide by the ethics of the profession. The information will be generic and I guess my audience is mainly parents of children and adolescents but I’m going to keep in mind teenagers and young adults who might also read it.
In time, I hope to run webinars through the website as well and create some short programs. I need to figure out how to create newsletters to update readers of the same.
At the end of the day, I’m passionate about child and adolescent mental health. And if I can help people through information online, I figure, why not?
It does leave me with the dilemma regarding having three blogs though – this one and the writing blog – and I’m contemplating combining the two and rebranding under my name as a writer’s platform. But I’ll figure it out in time.
I aim to launch the new website on the 1st of August. Until then though, you can follow Toddlers to Teens Psychology on Facebook and stay up to date with the launch.
Hope to see you on this new venture of mine.
